FORMER French-trained mare Daralimara made a winning start to her final campaign before being retired to stud when winning the Macau Jockey Club Cup yesterday.

Formerly owned by the Aga Khan, Daralimara is now prepared by Grahame Begg at Randwick.

Daralimara recorded its fourth win for the trainer who hopes to add a black type win to the mare's record before she heads to stud at the end of this season.

``I thought today might be a touch short for her, but she trialled terrific last week," Begg said.

Begg has earmarked the listed Berjani Jewellers Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill on March 27 as the five-year-old's autumn mission.

The mare, which came with a strong finishing burst to give jockey Hugh Bowman his third winner in four rides yesterday, has won four of her six starts for Begg.
