Pbl Cuts Ties With Casino King

THE Packer family's Publishing & Broadcasting Ltd appears to have completely severed its relationship with Macau's controversial casino tycoon Stanley Ho after he announced late yesterday that he will step down as chairman of PBL's Asian partner, Melco International.

KERRY Packer may have been the gambler in the family but it is his son James who is taking the biggest bet in Publishing & Broadcasting Ltd's 12-year history by agreeing to pay $US900 million ($1.2 billion) for a gaming licence in Macau.
